Wedding Guest Outfit Inspiration (No Dresses)

Is that wedding bells I hear? I don’t know about you but I’m suddenly getting lots of invites to weddings. Maybe it’s because I’m approaching 30 or that the weather is finally looking up and there’s no restrictions this year.

Now, finding the right dress or suit to wear to a wedding is pretty personal and if you’re looking for help with that, I don’t believe I can do that fully in a blog. I’d help you best in person or online after I’ve gotten to know what colours you look best in and what shapes suit your body. If that’s something you’d like to do, drop me an email and let’s go on that journey together.

For now, here’s some tips that can help inspire you. Just so you know, I haven’t been sponsored by any of these brands I’m highlighting. As a high street fanatic, and someone who just shopped for a wedding, my picks are from places I looked at whilst shopping myself that I like and hope you do too.

One of my inspirations for this piece is a little discovery I made. I was buying loads of dresses online and returning them because they just weren’t fitting right. I decided to stop trying, save myself money and wear a dress from my mum’s wardrobe she bought in the 00’s. She doesn’t wear it any more and all I needed to do was shorten the straps and it worked great on me!

Rather than buying a new dress, I gave this vintage dress a little lift by purchasing a new coverup, heels and jewellery.

My dress is very ‘Phoebe from friends’ so I embraced the 00’s and thought about what Mary Kate and Ashley might have worn over their slip dress. A mesh shirt! Recently with this era making a comeback, you won’t be stuck finding one that works for you. I tend to look for shirts or blouses that open and close with a tie if possible and there are lots of options!

Just putting it out there, I’m not great with heels. I love looking taller and appearing to have longer legs but I’m never great at walking in them. Which is why when I want to wear them, I go for styles that are chunkier with a little platform at the front. I also suggest styles with an ankle strap or something to really close that foot in and support you if you also struggle.

On my online travels I’ve noticed that New Look has many vegan heels which is great! Makes you feel a little bit better about buying new shoes for an event. When shopping, I recommend thinking about a style you’ll wear again to other occasions. As with anything you buy, the aim should always be to get lots of wear out if it in many ways.

Finally, to finish of this non-dress related wedding blog, I’d like to give a shout out to suits! I’m seeing lots of suits out there this season in an array of colours that can look just as glamorous as a dress. Wear them with a blouse, a lace bralet, nothing under – anything goes! There are also so many styles available. Shorts, skirts and many trouser shapes.

This Spring one of the key trends is ‘dopamine dressing’. That means fun and loud fashion which many high street designers are embracing. Isn’t a wedding the perfect chance to dress up and have a bit of fun? If you’d like to check which colours suit you first, I can help you through Colour Analysis first.
