A Guide To Black Friday Shopping

Hi, it’s your friendly personal stylist here 👋 Talking about how I think you can get the best out of Black Friday shopping or indeed any sales period!

Sale, Black Friday
Step 1: What do I need?

Ok firstly, I personally prefer doing this online. In person, you’re heightened and randomly grabbing. Battling others and probably not even thinking through your purchases.

Regardless, I think it’s best to pregame so that when it does happen, you’re more ready and measured and only actually buy things you will use.

It’s good to be looking ahead of Black Friday. Some brands will raise their prices just before and then knock them down just a little so you’re not actually getting the big discount you think. Remember how much your favs cost!

So what do you want? Things you would have bought full price anyway. Or maybe usually out of your price range but on sale are perfect. And ideally what your wardrobe is missing.

It helps to do a Wardrobe Edit before this. At the beginning of the month or even a week before sales. This is going through what you own, trying on troublesome pieces and either making them work giving them away.

That could be items that aren’t in your colour palette or fit your figure. Maybe your taste or lifestyle has changed. Perhaps even last year’s impulse buys!

Selling things new with tags is always juicy on Vinted and you can use that money on bargains that suit you now!

It’s also important to make a wardrobe wishlist. You may find you’re missing some good basics, your accessories are lacking or even your shoes are a bit worn and don’t go with your clothes.

Try and think ahead too. Do you have any big events or occasions in the horizon? You can be looking for gifts for Christmas or someone’s birthday.

Step 2: Save it for later

The next step is to make an online account on the sites of brands you like.  Saving items into wishlists there. It may feel a bit long but it’ll make you more efficient on the day.

I personally enjoy checking what’s new on my fav sites and saving things daily. I do this for clients, family and myself. If this feels like too much for you, I’d be happy to add you into my cycle too!

You could have the same cream jumper saved on 3 sites. It’s good to compare and if one sells out in your size somewhere, it’s backed up elsewhere. Remember which brand does it best and how much it costs before the sale.

You could even make a moodboard and put pics, prices and notes in there. I like to use Milanote (it’s free). You may prefer to just have written post-its or screenshots. Whatever helps!

If you do have an ounce of time and don’t mind shopping, I would recommend trying on before Black Friday. Things can look different in person and you may need to size up/down or remove it from your list.

You may also find yourself nearby a shop, go in for a wonder and something that you’d have passed online is actually great! Save that badboy for later and get it nice and cheap.

Step 3: Buy it

A lot of sites will start Black Friday before the actual day and continue it after so you *could* get your item any time. I’d check in on the sites a week before. They might even email you.

And you may find that if your item has sold out online, it may still be in the store and visa versa. So don’t despair! It does also make a fun shopping trip after the sales when there’s less pressure.

Sometimes, it gets to basket time and a few extras are needed to make up delivery, which is when the unexpected items can fall into the basket. Those wildcards can make for great purchases!

And if it’s all still too much for you to handle alone I’m happy to help you any step of the way.

Please do get in touch and we can work together on finding what works best for you before, after or during the big deals day 💪
