What is a Wardrobe Edit?

At the London College of Style, where I trained to be a Personal Stylist, we were taught how to carry out Wardrobe Edits. This isn’t just colour coding clothes or organising your tops into piles, it’s sorting through your items and keeping only those which work well for you.

Before a session, I’ll ask for some pics of your wardrobe (so I have an idea of how long it might take) and I’ll ask you to sort your clothes into things you don’t like/know how to wear and pieces you love wearing.

I’d recommend having a Colour and Body Consultancy before jumping into this as it’s a really useful tool to know what the best fits and colours for you are.

On any service you have with me, I come to you with no judgement. Our sessions are a safe and friendly learning environment where we have fun together, always with the aim to make you feel inspired and good about yourself!

You can change in front of me or in another room, however you feel comfortable. I’ve had a few clients that haven’t gotten dressed and still enjoyed the session seeing clothes laid out in combinations in front of them. Like all of my sessions, I tailor them to the individual and what makes them feel comfortable.

At the end of our Wardrobe Edit you’ll have discovered new clothes and outfits without even spending a pound! (though usually you come away with a wish list of what is missing which you’ll want to buy).

We start our session focussing on those clothes you’ve gotten ready for me which you’re not sure about. It’s my job to help you find new and interesting ways to wear them that work for your body and lifestyle and see if we can help you to love them.

I’ll take an item of yours like that troublesome houndstooth skirt you bought on impulse and pair it with something you love like the lilac camisole you wear whenever you want to feel good. You might say “Wow I wouldn’t have thought of putting those colours together” and “I didn’t see this skirt as a formal piece, thanks Natasha!”

Like this I work through those pieces you set aside and see if they can work for you or not. Throughout the session we’ll take pictures of the outfits flat or with you in them for your records.

Sometimes it takes someone by your side to give you that push to give something away. It could be to charity, maybe you know a friend who can give it a good home or perhaps you sell it and make a profit.

This is where we find the gaps in your wardrobe now. Perhaps we’ve set aside some old faded tops that are just too big since you’ve lost weight and it’s your new goal to find better ones in your seasonal colours. I’ll send you your wish list after the session which you may want to shop from yourself or with me on a Personal Shopping trip.

If you’re feeling uneasy about COVID, I also offer this service online. Carried out exactly the same way, just in front of a camera.

Get in touch today if you’re interested in revamping your wardrobe into a treasure trove of pieces you love.
