My Fall Winter 2023/24 Fashion Month Trends

Hello! Fall Winter 23/24 Fashion Month has just ended so I thought I’d share which trends I’ve identified so you can try them yourself now or later in the year.

As ever, I haven’t been sponsored to write this, just sharing what I’ve found online with you. Shout out to JTDapper Fashion Week for providing the catwalk pictures!

Tailoring
Alexander McQueen, Gucci, GCDS, Ferragamo, Valentino

I’ve been seeing a lot of suits played around with in a number of ways this fashion month. Cut into, paired with little shorts and all sorts! This could be a reaction to how workwear has become more casual. Perhaps the designers felt that people missed feeling dressed up. Of course you can embrace classic tailoring whenever you want – not just for work.

The classic white shirt and tie featured in a lot of collections also. Since many people have been wearing suits with t-shirts, designers may have been craving these classic pieces. Of course this is an easy trend to do now and you can embrace this with any fabric and colour you fancy. Try pairing them with unexpected combos like some sparkle and lace or denim.

Victorian goths
Bora Aksu, Vivetta, Simone Rocha, Rodarte, Zimmermann

There’s been a few vintage inspired collections this year (there usually are) and this year we looked to the Victorian period. This was expressed through lace and gothic styles. I am a fan of this of course, it works fantastically for winter too. This is probably a trend carrying on from spring summer 23 into the colder months.

Inspired by Wednesday Adams, which took the world by storm, designers showed us how to make gothic mainstream. Look out for velvets, lace and long dramatic shapes. The victorians loved a sailor collar and piped edges on a lapel – sometimes with lace. If you’ve got the patience, you can add lace to your own clothes for some Wednesday flair. You can also buy collars on their own that you can add onto clothes.

1950’s glamour
Dior, Caroline Herrara, Moschino, Miu Miu, Prada

I don’t know if I saw this because I’ve had 1950’s eyes from explaining the era on Youtube and a previous blog, but I feel like I saw elements of this era a lot. Perhaps this is coming about from designers embracing the roots of their brands. Whatever the reason, you’ll be seeing prom dresses, high waisted circle skirts and pencil skirts  as well as matching tops and cardigan sets.

Seeing red
Giambattista Valli, Ermano Scervino, Dolce & Gabbana, David Koma, Balmain

Another weird coincidence because this is my favourite colour and shade that was in a lot of collections this season. Yay me! So if you’re a fellow spring palette that loves bright crimson red, you’re in luck come the colder seasons. Red is brilliant paired with monochrome for that fiery memorable pop that’ll give you a good boost!

I hope this has made you feel a little happier about dressing in cold weather! You can of course try these trends now. Especially if you live in the UK as it’ll be cold for a while……If you’d like some help finding these pieces out in the wild, making outfits in these styles with your own clothes or shopping for new pieces like this then don’t hesitate to book a FREE discovery consultation and we can arrange your Personal Styling session together 🙂
